Park being reviewed: Six Flags AstroWorld
Reviewer: Ryan Brochstein
Date: 8/12/2005

Rating: (9 out of 10)

Ever since the park refurbishment in 2003, this park has gotten much better, and really worth the trip. It had nice themeing, nice scenery, great rides, and a much better staff. The rides looked like they were new, and the employees were very nice compared to other Six Flags Parks. We were greeted at the gate, as well on rides. The employees were also very interactive with running the rides.

Ride Reviews:

Dungeon Drop, 9 out of 10, An amazing Intamin AG freefall drop ride, much more amazing than most S&S Towers, it also had an amazing dungeon walk-through, that looked as if it were a real Dungeon

Serial Thriller, 6 out of 10, Sort of painful, but still fun and worth the wait, although the themeing for this ride is hard to understand.

Viper, 8 out of 10, this is one of the best Schwarzkopfs I have ever been on, it is smooth and has a nice a layout. It also has an interesting tunnel on the drop, which makes it different from most "Looping Star" models.

Mayan MindBender, 7 out of 10, this is more of a gentle ride inside of Mayan Pyramid. Not thrilling, but good for the little ones.

Batman: The Escape, 8 out of 10, a nice stand-up with great batman themeing, has a nice layout, but a bit painful.

Greezed Lightin', 10 out of 10, one word, AMAZING!!! A schwarzkopf shuttle-loop. Goes up to 60 MPH, with a smooth loops and smooth drops, VERY MUCH RECCOMENDED!

Texas Cyclone, 9 out of 10, one of my favorite wooden coasters, based on the popular Coney Island Cyclone. It is Smooth andunlike other woodies, not very painful.

Ultra-Twister, 9 out of 10, very unique coaster, only on like it in North America, the drop was amazing, followed by one barell roll, the two barell rolls backwards. IT was great, it also appeared to be painful, but it was not at all.

XLR-8, 7 out of 10, the worlds first succesful Arrow suspended coaster, for a proto-type ride, it was very nice, not too fast, but smooth, great for kids trying to accomplish larger coasters.

Thunder River, 7 out of 10, For another proto-type, very nice. This is the world's first River rapids ride built by Intamin AG. You dont get too wet, but wet enough.

SWAT, 8 out of 10, the world's first S&S Sky-Swatter, very thrilling and very fun, a nice investment for the park.

Over-all, I had a great time, these are only a few of the rides at the park, if you happen to be passing through Houston, this park should be on your list of things to do!!
